MAKE YOUR OWN WEATHER
About the Record
Make Your Own Weather is my latest batch of songs, written on a beach somewhere (or at least in my mind) — and crafted with some of New Orleans’ finest musicians and a few longtime musical heroes of mine.
These songs are about experiencing life as deeply as you can — adventures, connection, reflection and having a whole lot of fun — and remembering that you should try to make your own weather.
Track List
-
Make Your Own Weather
I can’t think of a better mantra. -
Stroke of Dumb Luck
I feel like I “thread the needle” a lot — lots of adventures and a fair amount of Type 2 fun. By some stroke of dumb luck, somehow I’m still here. -
King of the Coast
The story of Jimmy Buffett, who taught us how to chase adventure and try to live our best lives without taking ourselves too seriously. -
State of Mind Line
Some places exist more in memory and feeling than on a map — this song lives somewhere between, along that horizon. -
In Case the Joke’s on Me
I think humility and humor usually travel together. -
Puddle Jumper
It’s usually worth going one step further off the map. -
Nightsailing
A late-night visit to the beach where I grew up — looking for ghosts, knowing the tide has already carried that version of life out to sea.
